About Ash
Birth is not just about birthing babies, but birthing mothers as well. Over a decade-long career I have witnessed with many families both the magnificent beauty and transformative challenges that come with being a mother (and a baby!) during the early weeks of an infant’s life. As a mother myself, I have had the profound privilege of experiencing birth and postpartum- an experience all-consuming, transformative and took me to the very depths of my spirit and beyond what I thought I was capable of. My postpartum experience opened my eyes to things I cannot un-know, that which propelled me to deepen my work and my wisdom in caring for new mothers and babies during this very sacred time. I feel deeply and profoundly called to this work- being entrusted by families to support them in the most tender of moments. Watching these little souls land into their new world. The strength and courage it takes by parents to usher them in. And the vulnerability we show as human beings in these life changing moments of birth and beyond.
I have felt called to the spirit of babies and birth since I was child and watched my brother being born, and have since always regarded women, birth and babies as something of magic; something divine and sacred. Through my work, my passion has only deepened as I have continued to witness this profound moment in time. Birth is hard work- but postpartum is what I call ‘the trenches’. I chose postpartum work to be able to be there in the depths with my clients- guiding them, empowering them, holding, rooting and nourishing them along the way.
I began my journey with herbalism and Ayurveda 8 years ago as a way to care for myself and my autoimmunity. It became the only medicine that helped me to heal to a point where I could actually get out of bed again. I care for my own family using these modalities and after years of learning and growing, I began to extend this care to my clients. Herbs and Ayurveda as a means to support the postpartum period date back thousands and thousands of years. I am honored to be able to pass along this wisdom and help my clients heal and be nourished in a holistic way, in tandem with science back researched, and in a manner where my clients feel most comfortable.
I enjoy cooking, reading, gardening, painting, making fresh teas with my daughter and continued learning. I have a home garden full of food and herbs which I care for and harvest with my daughter. It is through this garden that I often nourish my clients. I try to spend as much of my day outdoors, in the sunshine and with nature.
My goal is to create a sacred place of healing that honors and cultivates the inner wisdom that all women posses, while supporting mothers in caring for themselves and their babies in a way that feels true and authentic to them. I look forward to empowering you through your journey!
